India is the land of 28 beautiful States and 7 Union Territories. Each state is different from another in many ways. Each state has its own language,

traditions, customs, rituals etc. In short and snappy terms, unity in diversity is one of the finest features of India. India is distinguished for its proud

culture and customs and one of them is Indian Wedding. Each state has its own style, own style even own wedding ways.

One of the beautiful states of India is Uttarakhand. This state has two regions Garhwal & Kumaon. Garhwal is a beautiful region surrounded by stunning hills,

picturesque vistas and scenic beauty on all sides. Furthermore, it is also well known for its superb wedding traditions as well as anti dowry approach. Today

the time has been changed but some customs are still the identical in the region such as pre-arranged marriages are preferred, matching the horoscopes of the

future bride and bridegroom, status of the family, rigid caste system etc.

After following all the above steps engagement ceremony is the next pivotal step of Garhwali wedding. By tradition, the marriage procession is led with a

white flag known as Nishan (representing the bridegroom) along with traditional band that are shehnai, piper, a pair of drummers and a nagara. The last man

of the marriage procession carries red flag that represents the bride. On arrival at the brides residence like any other Indian wedding food is served along

with flawless services and ethnic style. Nose ring ceremony also known as nath ceremony is one of the unique customs of Garhwali Wedding. In this ceremony

flag instead of red flag. Many rituals and ‘Puja’ takes place from beginning to last till the bride finally steps into bridegrooms house. Gauna system is

not the part of Garhwali Wedding.

In addition, Garhwali songs, dance, local cuisine, traditional dresses, jewellery all these are few other special features of Garhwali Wedding.

Marathi Wedding Customs

Like all wedding celebrations in India, Marathi matrimonial functions go for a number of days. Most of the weddings in Marathi are grand and has several rituals that begin several days before the actual wedding day. According to Marathi matrimonial, many rituals happen before and after the wedding day. Alliances for Marathi matrimony were earlier searched with the help of village priests or relatives, but now matrimonial websites are becoming popular to find the bride or groom for Marathi community.

The main wedding rituals happen in the morning though some happens in the afternoon too. All depends on the muhurat, which is the auspicious time to tie the knot according to Hindu rites. One common muhurat or auspicious time is when cows return in the morning after grazing fields. This muhurat is known as Goraj Muhurta. As a custom, no Hindu Marathi matrimonial takes place in the night.

Some common rituals before the day of wedding in Marathi custom are Sakhar Puda, Kelvan, and Kuldevta. Horoscope of girl and boy are matched. The family astrologer matches the horoscopes and checks compatibility issues. With all things sorted, the families gets ready for wedding celebrations. The Sakhar Puda ritual, boy and girl have a piece of gur (jaggery). This is similar to engagement in other communities of India. The boys parents present the girl with traditional sari and green bangles. The bride to be wears the green bangles. Once this ritual is completed, both the families sends wedding invitation cards to relatives and friends.

Kelvan ritual is a happy time when both the families meet at the bride to be house and enjoy a feast of traditional Marathi cuisine. This family get together happens two-three days before the wedding day.

Like all Hindu community-wedding rituals, a prayer offering to Hindu deities is necessary before beginning of anything. Even in Marathi matrimony customs, the families worship the Hindu gods and seek their blessings.

Wedding day activities in a Marathi matrimonial involves several small and big rituals. There is the Haldi ceremony where the bride and groom is applied a paste of turmeric, cream, sandalwood and scented oil. With the help of mango leaves, this paste is applied in all over the body. Then both the bride and groom are given a ritual bath.

Another wedding day ritual is the Seemant Puja where the family members of groom visit the brides house and they have delicious lunch of local delicacies.

The priest who chants Mangalashtakas which are holy verses to seel blessing of Hindu gods and goddess, conducts the wedding ceremony. Family members and close relatives are present during the rituals. At the end of each verse, the priest explains the meaning of verse to the gathering of people. The groom ties the mangalsutra along the brides neck and then both of them exchange garlands. Another common ritual in Marathi matrimonial wedding is the saptapadi, where the bride and groom encircles the holy fire.

Other wedding days rituals are Laxmi Pooja and Kanyadaan (Jhal Phirwane).

The post wedding Marathi matrimony rituals are Sun Mukh Baghne, where for the first time the grooms mother see her new daughter in law s face. She combs her hair. This is symbolic and implies that they should have a relation like mother-daughter. No wedding is complete without wedding dinner.

The Most Unique Wedding Favors, Koozies With Boobs

So my husband and I started the process of searching for these koozies with boobs. When we came to the website, we were excited to see the large selection and the fact that you could custom print pretty much anything on your koozie.

Now, I had to present this idea to my son and soon to be daughter-in-law. I knew my son would find the idea of koozies with boobs to be hysterical and a great wedding favor, I just did not know what to expect from his soon to be bride. To my surprise, she absolutely loved them and went on and on about how unique of a wedding favor that these koozies with boobs would be.

In all the years I have been attending weddings and all of the cheesy wedding favors I have received, if I ever would have been given a koozie with boobs, I am sure I would still have it to this day. Heck, even if we end up with a different wedding favor, which does not look very likely, I would go out and get some of these koozies just to have around the house.

Now comes the hard part. Figuring out what to get printed on these adorable little wedding favors. After all, I don’t believe that anyone in our inner circle has any experience with advertising on koozies with boobs. I guess this is a perfect opportunity to browse the internet for ideas. Wish me luck!
